Why I Started Discount Lock & Key

When I was 19 years old, I lost the only key, I had to my car while on vacation in South Carolina with my fiancée. We were stranded at a restaurant. We didn’t know what to do. 

After a quick search on Google, I called an automotive locksmith, and he came to where we were and made a key right there on the spot and got us back on the road. That was the first experience I ever had with a locksmith. 

I thought it was so interesting and helpful how they could just come to you and, 30 minutes later, have you back on your way like it never happened. Later on, it hit me: I could do that! I could go and help people who are stranded. From that moment on, my mission became to help people in that exact situation. My mission became not only to help them, but to help them for less! You see, the only real negative about that night was that the locksmith charged me almost $200. That was a lot of money in 2010! I was happy to pay it, but I remembered that price and thought, maybe I can save people some money too!

After doing some training, completing my apprenticeship, and obtaining my NC Locksmith License, I opened Discount Lock & Key in May of 2012. I have been a full-time automotive locksmith ever since. I have helped thousands of people who were stuck just like me without a car key. I’ve also helped thousands more with other automotive locksmith services, such as spare keys, lock repair, vehicle unlocks, and vehicle remotes.
